Joanna is a diploma-qualified teacher with more than 20 years’ experience teaching English. She has worked in London, Oxford, Mexico, Spain and the UK. Before starting LanguageUK, she worked as an Academic Manager, Head of Teacher Recruitment and Manager of the Advanced English department. In addition to being experienced in teacher training, she has also been an examiner for the Cambridge First Certificate (FCE) and IELTS. Joanna has managed LanguageUK since 2008
Dip TESOL and MA/TESOL – Academic Manager
Keith is a Diploma and MA qualified teacher with over 20 years’ experience who has taught English and been a Director of Studies in Azerbaijan, Equatorial Guinea, Macedonia, Poland and the UK. As well as being an oral examiner and exam supervisor for Cambridge CAE and FCE exams, he has been a Trinity TESOL teacher trainer and written and edited English language course books. Before he became a teacher Keith worked in advertising and publishing for over 10 years.
Trinity Diploma (completing this year) Cert. TESOL – School Manager
Sue has been working as an English language teacher for just over 6 years and has also hosted students from all over the world. She has experience of teaching all age groups and has also taught General English, Cambridge exams and IELTS. Sue has worked for a home tuition company, the local FE college and for the local council teaching life skills in English for adults. Sue was previously our Junior Course coordinator which involved designing, writing and implementing bespoke courses for school groups from Spain, France and Italy. She is currently studying towards the Trinity PG Dip TESOL.
Trinity College DipTESOL – Teacher
Amanda Williams has a diploma in teaching English as a Foreign Language and she has been teaching for 12 years. She has worked in China, Thailand, Indonesia and Italy as well as in the UK. Amanda has taught all age groups. She was team manager in China where she designed a course outline and materials for a multimedia based programme. Amanda also has experience in teaching Business and Medical English.
Dip. RSA – Teacher
Noel has the diploma in teaching English as a Foreign Language and has extensive experience in TEFL. Noel has been teaching for 12 years. He has taught Business English for the British Council in Tokyo. He has been employed as an Assistant Director of Studies. He is a member of the English Speaking Union and coordinator for the National School Public Speaking competition. Noel was previously trained as an IELTS examiner.
RSA TEFL – Part time Teacher
Virginia has worked as a TEFL teacher since 1982, prior to this she worked as a French teacher and a translator with UN agencies in the UK and Africa. Virginia speaks fluent French, Spanish and Italian. She also has a working knowledge of German. Virginia works part time at the school and is a wonderful teacher to have.
Student Services Manager
Verity joined our school in June 2011, having spent the previous four years hosting students from all over the world. She has spent many years living and working overseas in the fashion business setting up quality control departments and dealing with ethical trade audits. Verity has lived and worked in many countries including Vietnam, Thailand and India. Verity has qualified in Student Service Management, level 1 to 3 Safeguarding, Prevent and First Aid. Verity is also in charge of accommodation and the Welfare clinic for LanguageUK.
School Maintenance and Spanish tutor
Francisco works as a Spanish teacher in local schools and at Hablemos (the Spanish school that shares the building with LanguageUK). He also helps to maintain the building and assists with IT support. Francisco is more than happy to play a round of golf with our students.
Alison is the book keeper for LanguageUK. She has been working for the school for many years and her appearance every Friday is always most welcome! She works meticulously sorting out all the accounts for us.
CELTA/MA – Teacher
Rachel started working for LanguageUK in 2016. She is CELTA qualified and also has a distinction at masters level in Creative Writing. Rachel has worked as a teacher in Saudi Arabia and South Korea. As well as teaching here she also works in the office helping to answer enquiries from new students, amongst other office duties. During the summer months Rachel also helped to coordinate the classes for the children.
Rachel is from the magical, mystical, far-off land of ‘The Midlands.’ It is so magical that she is writing a children’s book about it!
The School Gardener and Host
Debs Askin had several roles at the school. She tends the garden and hosts students. Debs has been working as a gardener for many years now and has a passion for horticulture. She is also well travelled having previously spent time teaching at the Rudolf Steiner school in New Zealand and teaching English to juniors in Turkey.
