Broadstairs – A traditional seaside town in Kent

Broadstairs is a small seaside town with a population of about 25,000 situated on the Kent coast, an hour and a quarter from London by train. It was recently voted one of the two most popular resorts in the country in a national newspaper. Broadstairs enjoys a reputation unique amongst seaside resorts, maintaining an atmosphere quite different from the rest of seaside England. Offering sandy beaches, cliff top walks and interesting shops and museums, Broadstairs will provide you with plenty to do during the day.

In the evening you can sample an excellent choice of critically acclaimed restaurants serving great local, Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. With a wealth of traditional lively pubs and quiet wine bars enjoying sea views and a variety of live music,
Broadstairs is the perfect choice if you want to learn Engish.

Countryside and History in Kent

For those who wish to explore the Kent countryside, it will soon become clear why this county has been named ‘The Garden of England’, full of charming picturesque villages and stunning scenery. Some of the numerous places of historical interest include: the city of Canterbury, famed for its cathedral and long and glorious history dating from Roman times * Leeds Castle (see photo above), one of Britain’s most beautiful castles, set on two islands in the heart of Kent * Dover Castle, which dates back nearly 1000 years to the time of William the Conqueror and played an important role in the Second World War.

Sport and Recreation in Broadstairs

Broadstairs and the surrounding area offer a variety of leisure activities. There are several excellent golf courses, recreation parks with tennis and football facilities, two well-equipped gyms, a multiplex cinema, a casino and a large shopping centre on the outskirts of the town. Broadstairs is a relaxing town which still offers an excellent range of daytime and evening recreation. This, combined with its convenient train links to London, makes Broadstairs the best place to learn English.
