Broadstairs – A traditional seaside town in Kent

image (6) Broastairs is a small but lively seaside town with a population of about 30,000. Traditionally famous for it's fishing, boat building and smuggling industry, Broadstairs still has a small fleet of fishermen that leave the bay in the early hours to catch local fish.  

Beautiful Sandy Beaches

image (4) Broadstairs is surrounded by some beautiful sandy beaches all within walking distance. The beaches are popular with local people and visitors throughout the year.

Broadstairs Main Bay

image (3) The town overlooks Broadstairs Main Bay also known as Viking Bay. It was recently voted one of the two most popular resorts in the country in a national newspaper. Broadstairs enjoys a reputation unique amongst seaside resorts, maintaining an atmosphere quite different from the rest of seaside England.

The shopping Centre

2861718343_9fe8af4fca_b For those of you who like shopping, there is a large shopping mall just 15 minutes away from the town centre by bus. The shopping mall also offers a multiscreen cinema complex, casino, bingo hall, gym with indoor swimming pool and a selection of well known restaurants.

train station There is a train station in the centre of the town with links to London, Canterbury, Dover and Ashford International.

Our local Cinema

The cinema regularly shows all the latest films and during the autumn, winter and spring there is a film club every Tuesday evening showing independent and less commercial films from all over the world including the UK.

Close to London

IMG_7533 London is easily accessible for a day trip by train. The fast train to London takes 1 hour and 15 minutes and the slow train takes 1 hour and 45 minutes.

The Chapel 44 Albion St is one of our frequented real ale houses in Broadstairs (there are a few!) Once the old book shop.

The yard of Ale 61 Church Street, St Peters An 19th Century Stable in the Village of St Peters, Serving Cask Ales, Ciders and wines all locally produced. Handmade Pork Pies and Kent crisps and cheese.

Tatar Frigate Harbour St, Broadstairs The historic Tartar Frigate is one of the only 18th century flint restaurants in Kent. Widely renowned as one of the best seafood restaurants in Kent.

Viking Bay The main bay of Broadstairs is very busy in the summer months. Rides for children, puppet shows and more!

Stone Bay This is where you will find the local people hang out.

Joss Bay If you’re into surfing and paddle boarding this is the beach to be!

We have regular bus services and all buses travelling around Thanet in both directions stop at the top of Queens Road about two minutes’ walk from the school.

Please note that most single/return bus fares are less than £5.00 GBP and that bus drivers may refuse to accept any notes of a higher value.

Most buses do not operate after 23:00, so check the bus timetable to avoid the long walk home.
